The first National Training Session for Cohort 12 LEAD Associates of Anglophone West African countries (LAWA) was held at the Nigerian Office of LEAD AT 8, Thorburn Avenue, Yaba, Lagos, from February 19-23, 2007. All the newly selected Associates numbering 10 participated in the training session.
The Session introduced the Associates to the LEAD Vision, Mission, Objectives, Methodology and Goals. The Session also discussed several topics including
• Introduction to LAP, LEADNet and Training Schedule
• Group Dynamics and Team Building – Building Highly Effective Teams
• Leadership – Principles and Practice
• Biosphere and Ecosystems, Biological Diversity and Development
• Population and Natural Resources, Demographic Dynamics, Structure, Carrying Capacity, etc.
• Energy, Environment and Development: The Nexus
• Introduction to Environmental Economics- Pricing Theory, Resource Allocation, etc.
• Emerging Global Environmental Challenges
• Social Systems, Institutions and Structures – Urbanization, Poverty and Changing Quality of Life
• National Environment and Development Profile
• Sustainable Development: Theory, Practice and Challenges; Case Studies – Local, National, Regional and Global.

Cohort 12 LEAD Associates of Anglophone West African countries (LAWA) had their second National Training Session at the Nigerian Office of LEAD at 8, Thorburn Avenue, Yaba, Lagos, from June 4 – 8, 2007.
Apart from participating effectively in the symposium organized by AWA to mark the World Environment Day on June 5, 2007, the Session discussed several topics including
