LEAD-AWA PAN AFRICAN SESSION LAUNCH
Theme: “Energy as a Solution to Economic and Developmental Challenges”
Sub themes:
- Renewable Energy for Greener Development
- Financing, Costing and Management of Cost Efficient Energy
Our interests for the Pan African session center around Entrenching Sustainable Cost Effective Energy Efficient Policies: Engaging People, Business and Achieving Markets Integration. Next after the leadership factor, and considering its very importance, and cross cutting dimension, undoubtedly, energy is key to development in Africa. We expect this theme to create a forum where stakeholders across all sectors in Africa will further engage as they:
Benefits
- Deliberate on addressing the leadership and governance challenges that have plagued the energy sector;
- Stimulate a call for action to entrench a sustainable, cost-effective energy efficient regime
- Foster action-oriented policy implementation and investments
- Engage with people, business and decision makers to promote sustainable energy for markets integration in Africa.
No doubt being an event that will attract the attention of a large segment of stakeholders from all sectors, the process has been designed in such a way that it will be value adding/building for all, rather than a one-off event. Consequently, the process of the Pan African Session has been structured to convey other cross sectorial benefits through pre-sessions, policy dialogues with legislators, business round tables and workshops, including the commissioning of national and state case studies for practical investigation, as well as learning from best practices.
Specifically, let me add that LEAD-AWA is interested in connecting and collaborating with your organizations to promote and manage the 2011 Pan African session as an initiative with significant carbon footprints implications.
